Be a Longhorn - AR Tour

About the Project

Be a Longhorn AR Tour is an interactive augmented reality experience developed as part of a multi-phase campaign for UT Austin Admissions. The goal was to connect with digital-first prospective students, bring campus culture to life, and help high school seniors imagine themselves at UT. As Creative Lead and Lead Developer, I drove the narrative design and technical implementation, working closely with the team to ensure the experience was more than just a tech demo—it was a story participants could be part of.

The AR Tour invites students and their families to explore UT Austin’s 40 acres with Bevo as their virtual guide. As participants move across campus, they meet iconic characters, complete mini-games, and collect spirit medals representing UT’s core values. Once all medals are collected, Bevo sends a personalized congratulatory email and restores color to the world with a singing and dancing finale.

Built with 8th Wall, JavaScript, A-Frame, and Three.js, the AR Tour is accessible on all devices. The project is part of a larger campaign, beginning with an AR Map Mailer at home and concluding with an on-campus AR photobooth, bridging digital and in-person engagement.
