About the Project
The AR Map Mailer is an interactive print and digital experience created for UT Austin’s admissions campaign. As Creative Lead and Lead Developer, I helped design the technical approach, user flow, and interactive content.
Each prospective student received a custom-printed map that, when scanned with a smartphone or tablet, triggered an augmented reality experience. Iconic campus buildings came to life in 3D, and Bevo, the university mascot, emerged from the main building to greet participants. Users could interact with different landmarks, discovering UT Austin’s history and traditions in a playful, hands-on way before even setting foot on campus.
The AR Map Mailer was the entry point to a larger multi-phase campaign, which continued with the Be a Longhorn AR Tour and culminated in an on-campus photobooth experience.
Built with 8th Wall, Three.js, and A-Frame, the project was designed to make UT’s outreach more personal, memorable, and interactive.
